The first is the gritty and dark reboot that came out recently, filled with strong female characters, questionable scenes of violence, and lots and lots of wolf killing. This series brings Tomb Raider into a more modern era. The second series is the top down adventure puzzle series of games started in Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light. This wacky game is filled with gunplay, magic, and lots of old gods. It made the plots of the Tomb Raider series more light hearted and pushed the gameplay toward a format that feels like its nostalgic rather than modern. These two series went in totally opposite directions, to say the least. Both series are fun in their own right, offering an experience that scratches two completely separate gaming itches, and both are evolving, the first series with the upcoming Rise of the Tomb Raider, and the second with the recently released Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris.

Dealspwn: "Crystal Dynamics' Tomb Raider reboot was many things, but "fun" was not one of them. Cathartic, intense and harrowing, yes, but I missed the days when Lara would confidently swagger into an ancient temple, blast some endangered wildlife, nick stuff and actually raid some tombs just because it was her job. The fact that she bloody loved it was just the cherry on the cake. Thankfully Lara Croft And The Temple Of Osiris is less about traumatic self-discovery and more about pillaging temples with mates for fun and profit."

TouchArcade: It's always kind of sad when a game stops being updated and stops working. When you combine the chaotic and unpredictable effects that an iOS system update can have, along with the fact that updating a game might not be worth the time and resources to actually do so, sometimes games just die off. Sometimes developers and publishers pull the games, or just leave them in the store, and caveat emptor. Look at Geometry Wars: Touch [$0.99], for example: it's got issues on iOS 8.1, which is sad as it's got all the cool modes from Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2. Some may have thought Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light [$4.99] was consigned to a similar fate. It even disappeared off the App Store at one point, and hadn't been updated for three years. Well, out of nowhere, the game's been resurrected and updated for compatibility in 2014!
